/ 01 Context

1,700 liters of water required to produce a 100g chocolate bar

Chocolate – one of the most beloved and consumed foods globally, is also among one of the most water intensive foods, with estimates suggesting it requires about 1,700 liters of water just to produce a 100g chocolate bar. With water scarcity becoming an increasingly prevalent global issue, the high water footprint of such consumer goods is a growing cause for concern.

With the goal to emphasize the urgent need to drive sustainability in supply chains, this project focuses on the chocolate industry, highlighting the immense amount of water used in the bean to bar process.

/ 02 Approach

3D Modeling

Through creating a 3D-modeled virtual exhibition in the form of a video, I aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the water usage involved, with visuals to aid viewers in understanding the data presented.

/ 03 Storytelling

A virtual journey

The virtual exhibition takes viewers through the many stages of chocolate production, from the harvesting of cocoa beans to the final market product, offering insights into both the production process and the substantial water consumption involved.
